The weekend gave us the gift of perfect winter weather for racing – clear skies and calm winds, with temps staying low – but not too low!
A few of our crew made their way to Adelaide Hills Cycling Club‘s Forreston Road Race, with bunches starting out in Gumeracha and then heading over to the Forreston circuit, a mainstay in Adelaide road racing.
Jimmy Wade made his way up to B grade, duking it out amongst a very strong group of riders. He spent quite a bit of time off the front (almost two laps), most of which solo, but missed the race winning move by the slightest of margins and managed to finish with the main kick.
C1 saw a hotly contested race, with Blackchrome Racing rider Paul Pearce getting off the front with the accomplished UCI WorldTour rider Ruby Roseman-Gannon. The pair couldn’t make it stick, but made the race hard for those remaining in the bunch. In the final, Adam Bowey again impressed – following wheels up the final climb and using his strong kick take the win.
Luke Dingley put a solid effort in over in D1 – again a field that looks to have considerable depth given their lap splits – nabbing 10th. Simon Veitch & Alison Skinner didn’t race – but Simon was race referee and Alison acted as a corner marshall for AHCC, allowing for safe racing to be conducted – so a huge thanks to Simon and Alison.’
