Sunday held a cracking morning courtesy of Adelaide Hills Cycling Club at Mount Torrens, with the Springhead Road Race course delivering on expectations of creating challenging, positive racing.

In B Grade, Jimmy Wade was present in a early move along with NCC’s Max Hardy, going very long. In this instance the gamble didn’t quite pay off, being caught by a heavily reduced bunch with two laps to go. As things came back together, Paul Pearce took it to the bunch with some aggressive racing – taking second place, while Jimmy snuck onto the podium with third place.

In C grade, racing was fierce with a flurry of attacks throughout the race – a true war of attrition. Victoria Veitch has continued her ascent of form, taking first place – dominating the steep final with her supreme climbing. The ever consistent Dan Kelly came in just behind with third place.

And finally, in D1 Luke Dingley maintained his seemingly endless streak of podium places, taking second in front of a guy called Valtteri Bottas… yes, the Valtteri Bottas. Imagine that, one of the best F1 drivers in the world at our local club race. How cool.

As always, thanks to the volunteers (including our very own Simon Veitch as race ref and Adam Bowey as a traffic marshall) for providing their time and expertise to put on such high quality road racing. We are truely privileged to have such amazing high quality, regular road racing available to us.
